Temerate

Temerate was presented at CAE of Sever do Vouga (Portugal) in 2016 and sets a ground for new practice interests within my recent work.
The research that leads to these works starts with a wandering through virtual image and virtual places and the easy connection and disconnection with reality - a break with bonds and expectations related to space and experience. This exhibition contains works that combine virtual references collected from the networks and personal references. Beginning with GoogleMaps and webcam expeditions, the works go through the process of manipulation of information, image and identity, reformulating their quality as images of knowledge and reconstructing their surface.
My work started with a composition, an ‘atlas’ (Atlas of an alternative land), where I was interested in exploring several desk experiments, photos, drawings, objects (old slides) and screen images while wandering on ‘webcam expeditions’, combining images, referents and finding new spots around the globe. The methodology and studio work focused on presenting a relatable fiction experienced within the networks and it’s possible grounds and fallacies.
