Ana Linhares (b. 1990, Portugal), lives and works in Utrecht, regularly taking part in projects in Portugal and Spain. Holds a BA in Fine Arts, from the University of Porto (2012) and a MA in Fine Arts & Design, focused on Artistic Research, from the HKU (2019). Worked until recently on the ongoing research project ‘On Constellations’ centered on archives, images and storytelling and their intersection with colonial narratives. This project was supported by a research grant from Foundation Calouste Gulbenkian, Portugal (2018-2019). ‘On Constellations’ started in 2017 and has developed for the last 2 years into different phases. While exploring archival practices, storytelling and the deconstruction of colonial narratives, the work embraces diverse media such as installation, video, image and text. The work methodologies rely considerably on an experimental work and research, using montage and composition in order to suggest new interpretations and possibilities in narrative and knowledge. Recently the research interests have been shifting a bit towards how to use archival practices to exercise care within a community or institution.
